A Tremendously Rare Pair of Early Eighteenth Century Brass Candlesticks

The central triangular knop matches the stepped triangular base. Brazing lines, or seams, down both stems.

One known pair is illustrated in Eloy Koldeweij’s The English Candlestick, page 107, catalogue 76, and are in the John Bryant Collection in America. This pair also appears in Rupert Gentle and Rachael Field’s book, Domestic Metalwork, page 138, figure 57, where it is stated they are possibly a one-off order. The only other pair known are these, which are photographed and discussed in Peter Hornsby’s book, Collecting Antique Copper, figure 65.
